HIGIENISTA INDUSTRIAL / Industrial Hygienist Specialist

We are looking for an Industrial Hygienist to work at our Guyana office, who will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace health hazards through the development and implementation of comprehensive industrial hygiene programs, to protect the health and well-being of personnel and ensure regulatory compliance across the operations, among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Develop comprehensive annual Industrial Hygiene (IH) plans for the operations by systematically assessing historical data and regulatory changes and identifying priority areas for health risk management. 
• Conduct thorough IH Area Surveys to identify and report on physical, chemical, and biological hazards across all operational areas using established standard procedures and specialized monitoring tools. 
• Perform qualitative IH surveys to classify work exposure and determine similarly exposed worker groups (SEGs) through detailed task analysis, observation, and worker interviews. 
• Execute quantitative IH Exposure Assessments for SEGs by deploying calibrated sampling equipment and applying validated analytical methods to measure airborne contaminants and physical agents.
• Maintain all IH equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability during surveys and assessments through regular calibration, functional checks, and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Implement robust control measures, conduct regular audits, and maintain detailed records to protect personnel from radiation sources and ensure strict compliance with radiation permit requirements. 
• Analyze and interpret IH exposure assessment results against regulatory limits and internal standards to inform the development of tailored industrial hygiene programs and control strategies. 
• Provide adequate training and education to the workforce on industrial hygiene programs through engaging sessions and clear communication of health protocols to ensure compliance and foster a safety culture across all operations.
• Recommend Medical Surveillance Enrollment based on exposure assessment findings and health risk profiles to mitigate potential long-term health risks for exposed personnel proactively. 
• Oversee the Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL)/Threshold Limit Value (TLV) Change Management process and the new chemical review within the Hazard Communication program by tracking regulatory updates and updating internal standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, or a related scientific or engineering field.
• Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is highly preferred.
• Progressive and relevant experience in Industrial Hygiene within the oil & gas, chemical, manufacturing, or similar heavy industry for at least 7 years.
• A working knowledge of Industrial Hygiene Management Systems, exposure assessment methodologies (qualitative and quantitative), IH equipment operation and maintenance, radiation safety management, chemical hazard communication, and occupational health regulations.
• Familiarity with international standards such as ACGIH TLVs, World Bank, and relevant national/local IH guidelines (e.g., Guyana OHS regulations) is desired.
• Fluent in English.
• Willingness to reside in Guyana.
